Statistics Unit

Overview:

Our last unit focuses on statistics and probability in society.  Students will examine how sample populations are selected, surveys are carried out, statistics are collected, and results are interpreted.  Furthermore, analysis of bias that occurs throughout the process and data interpretation will done. 

Final Project:

Math 9 Statistics Project
Create and administer a survey that meets the following criteria:
a.       Ask a question(s) about the student population in your school.
b.      Select a sample population from the student body.
c.       Devise a survey that can be administered easily to students.
d.      Administer survey.
e.      Collect raw data and put into a table.
f.        Graph copy of data in a neat, easy to read graph.
g.       Analysis: draw conclusions from your survey.
h.      Discuss any forms of bias that may be prevalent in your results.

Rotational Symmetry

Today we examined the concept of Rotation and Rotational Symmetry (unit 7.6).  Specifically, we looked at Order of Rotation and how it relates to Angle of Rotation.

Quiz Tomorrow

Today we did some last review on scale enlargements and reductions. Tomorrow there will be a quiz on for these concepts. (Units 7.1 and 7.2)
