Scale and Planets

Today we examined scale as it relates to the size of planets and the distance of planets to the sun.

We looked at how scale exists in the real world and how our minds make sense of scale on two dimensional images. We started on textbook work p. 328-330, q. 1-16

Scale Enlargments

We started Unit 7 in the text which looks at shape symetry and transformations. Specifically we looked at proportion and scale enlargements.

Bracketology

After a long look at linear equations (Unit 6), the class took two days (last Thursday and Friday) to examine the concept of probability as it pertains to the greatest amateur basketball tournament in the world...NCAA Div. I March Madness. Specifically we examined what biases could exist in the ranking system of the tournament and what effect ranking actually has on a probable outcome.

Unit 6 Test Tomorrow

Do all practice questions on p. 310 and do questions 9-16 on page 316.

Review and 6.5 Quiz

Today we:

Block 2: reviewed the homework from over the weekend and did questions 14-16 on p. 313 and prepared for the 6.5 Quiz.

Block 7: did the 6.5 quiz (multiplying and dividing linear inequalities).
